Has anyone actually seen REAL Sri Lankan porn?

I haven’t.
I’m no prude (far from it), and I certainly don’t find Sri Lankan women unattractive; but I have never seen a single locally-produced porno that, to me, was even remotely arousing.
What’s up with that?
Yeah, this about as good as it gets.
“Adults only” flicks don’t count — they’re neither porn, nor art. And the women in these movies are usually either very fat or very old – or both. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that).
But seriously, why is our porn industry not even up to scratch? If Wikipedia is to be believed, even India is doing better than us – despite porn being banned in all 28 states there. Is it the pay? Is it a lack of moaning tal acting talent? Or is it simply because our women are not (financially) desperate enough or downtrodden enough to earn a living that way?
If that is the case, then (which can only be a good thing), how do you explain the 30,000+ prostitutes currently operating in the country?
The fact that pornography is illegal in Sri Lanka is a moot point, since, obviously, so is prostitution.
And, yes, there is a much higher risk of getting caught; and potential actors are probably worried sick that they’ll be identified as porn stars and/or are just too timid to perform sexual acts that’ll be witnessed by more than one person.
The thing is, the men and women who are already in the business are fully aware of the risks involved. I’m sure they know quite well that their job description goes a lot further than just faking an orgasm. They’re putting their entire lives at risk. You really gotta admire their balls. (Figuratively speaking, of course).
But the problem is, they just don’t LOOK like porn “stars.” The kind of porn these people make has about the same effect on you as seeing your grandma doing a pole dance.
Sucks, no?
Why don’t the hot ones ever get into it, eh?

Disclaimer: I, as a cultured Sri Lankan citizen, am dead against pornography in any shape or form, and this is NOT an attempt to advocate a “better” porn industry in the country. Seriously.

Interesting post. I am interested in your opinion about the quality / looks of the men involved. Because, as we all know, it is not only men who watch porn right? It is not socially sanctioned for women to watch, but women do watch. So, my question is, if the girls/women are so fugly, what about the men? And why dont hot guys go act in porn? would you?
Actually the men are terrible. And most of the time not shown in the porn movies. PoV is very popular. Also in a porno its more about length and girth than looks. If he has the looks and the size that would be awesome for you women. But since more men watch porn than women they focus on the women.
Also the main problem with Porn in Sri Lanka is that this country is too small. Everyone will find out sooner or later. If Himal acted in a porno. Someone is going to recognize him and spread the word. Hell they’ll burn DVD’s and print out covers and hand it out to people. But that’s Sri Lanka.

I think Ahmed has put his finger on the issues; the place is too small, its socially unacceptable and impossible to market. Proper production involves cost and in order to recover the cost it needs proper marketing.
Far better to keep a look out for ethnic porn produced overseas, there are a few Indian/Bangladeshi actresses who are reasonably good
Porn for (straight) women is psychologically not viable. There have been attempts to build such a market but they were all failed.
Well, the problem is.. if you actually look at it, what they mean by sri lankan ‘porno’ are all these phone video clips taken by stupid couples and leaked out on the net. I’m not even sure they can be classified as actual porn – in the true sense of it. Hence i guess the argument about the unattractive women/men in these ‘clips’ does not really count.. cos they were not meant to be watched by people other that themselves. If it was made for commercial purposes im sure they would have taken some good looking people, no?

Sri Lankan porn _industry_ does only exist in some lunatics minds. There’s no such thing. Look at our movies (the normal shit)? How can we ever produce something that will qualify to go by the term ‘porn movies’.

Nice post. But a lot of women, internationally, in pornos aren’t in it out of sheer financial desperation. Additionally, I think there aren’t that many because people just don’t want that kind of publicity. Prostitutes are one thing, but putting yourself on video is likely to get you all over government office computers, if recent events are to be considered.
